Update your Chef's Special

Your Chef Specials sit in their own section of your me&u menu. In this guide, we’ll show you how to update your specials from start to finish.

 

Find the right Chef Special item

  1. Log in to the Manage platform at manage.meandu.app
  2. Go to Your Menu > Menu Items

  3. Click the Food category

  4. Scroll to your chef specials section

 

ℹ️ Your Chef’s Special items are already loaded in your me&u menu. You just need to find the item your kitchen is serving today.

5. Click POS button to reveal the POS IDs

6. Find the menu item that matches the POS ID provided by your kitchen.

Update the special

Click the item to open it, then update the details for today’s special:

  1. Clear the Name field and enter the dish you are actually serving 
  2. Enter customer facing Description for the item 
  3. Update the Display Price and Price in cents  to match what the special is priced at in your POS 
  4. Toggle on Is visible on the menu
  5. Add any Dietary Tags and Dietary Filters if applicable
  6. Click on Update to save any changes 

 

Add or replace the photo

  1. Click the grey box with the + icon.
  2. Your file manager will open. 
  3. Select the photo you want to use, and it will automatically upload to the menu item.

4. To swap a photo out, click delete icon first, then add the new one.

 

Hide last week’s special

  1. Click the Availability icon on the top right of your screen 

  2. Availability toggles will appear on all menu items, allowing you to choose 

3. Find the old special and turn off the eye toggle to hide it from your menu.

ℹ️  If you see the “Not listed” label, the item is hidden from customers and cannot be viewed or ordered.

 

Add / Update the modifiers

If your special has changed completely, for example last week's chicken parmigiana is this week's steak, update the modifiers to match.

  1. Open the item

  2. Click on "View Item modifiers and upsell" on the top

    Add a modifier group

  3. You can link an existing modifier group by searching for it 

  4. Or create a new modifier group by clicking the + icon and selecting from modifiers already in your system.

  5. To remove a modifier group you no longer need, click Unlink on that modifier group

Before you finish

Check that your new special has the correct name, description, price, photo and modifiers, and that it’s visible on the menu.

Make sure any old specials are marked Not listed so customers can only see and order what’s available today.
